Electrical Technician – Control & Protection Specialist

About the role

The Electrical Technician will support the design, review and testing of protection and control systems for substation projects. You will work closely with clients, vendors and internal teams to ensure technical compliance and optimal system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Review control and protection schematic drawings for accuracy and functionality.
• Analyse System Automation Schematics (SAS) documents, functional design specifications and bill of quantities.
• Evaluate primary and secondary substation switchgear equipment schematics and coordinate with protection designs.
• Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLD) for protection systems in line with client specifications.
• Perform CT, CVT and PT application checks and related calculations.
• Develop cable philosophies and inter‑connection schedules to ensure proper system integration.
• Assess tender and vendor offers for control and relay panels, ensuring technical compatibility and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with clients to obtain approval of engineering drawings and documents.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on transformers, current transformers and voltage transformers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, focusing on protection systems and substation design.
• Proven ability to review control and protection schematics and technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
