Financial Controller

About the role

Lead and oversee all financial reporting, accounting, treasury, tax, compliance, financial controls, and finance operations for the business, providing accurate reporting, strong governance and strategic financial support to executive leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting, statutory accounts, consolidations, audits and ensure IFRS compliance.
• Manage tax compliance, corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing and tax optimisation initiatives.
• Oversee treasury operations, cash‑flow management, liquidity planning, banking relationships and foreign‑exchange exposure.
• Support capital investment decisions, CAPEX governance and project financial controls.
• Manage relationships with auditors, lenders, joint‑venture partners and regulatory authorities.
• Lead and develop the finance team while driving process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Provide strategic financial advice to the CFO and Board on major business decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Fully qualified CA, ACCA or CMA.
• 13–15 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Direct experience in the Oil & Gas sector (upstream and/or midstream) – mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS (including IFRS 6, 15, 16, IAS 36) and petroleum industry accounting practices.
• Experience with production sharing agreements, joint operating agreements and petroleum fiscal regimes.
• Experience in commodity hedging, foreign‑exchange risk management and reserves‑based lending.
• Preferred: MBA, CFA, Master’s in Finance, Energy Economics or Petroleum Engineering; GCC/MENA regional experience; familiarity with the Qatar Energy ecosystem.
