General Accountant – Hotel Finance

About the role

We are looking for a General Accountant to oversee the hotel’s receiving and financial functions, ensuring accurate processing of invoices, timely closing of books, and strict adherence to internal controls. The role combines day‑to‑day accounting tasks with oversight of inventory and audit coordination within a hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review supplier invoices for originality, proper numbering, itemisation and accuracy.
• Acknowledge satisfactory deliveries with the hotel seal and signature.
• Process Deviations and Outstanding Order reports according to hotel standards.
• Weekly review of Outgoing Records for serial control, identify outstanding items and report to department heads.
• Develop and maintain both manual and computer filing systems with restricted access.
• Inform supervisors of any unusual events or policy deviations.
• Manage month‑end closing, prepare financial reports and reconcile the General Ledger, bank accounts and P&L.
• Analyse financial statements, identify trends and provide recommendations.
• Ensure receiving, invoice, expense, payment voucher and cashier reports are authorised and compliant.
• Supervise monthly payroll preparation and ensure timely salary disbursement.
• Maintain effective internal controls, safeguard assets and ensure record accuracy.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit processes.
• File original contracts and important documents in a fire‑proof safe.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an accountant in a hospitality environment.
• Knowledge of cost accounting and store inventory management.
• High school diploma or higher qualification.
