General Accountant - Luxury Hotel

About the role

Accor is hiring a General Accountant for its Alwadi Doha hotel, a 5-star boutique property in Msheireb Downtown Doha. The accountant monitors hotel costs, keeps accurate financial records and supports inventory management and internal controls, working closely with Purchasing, Receiving, Stores, Kitchen and Food & Beverage teams.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control food, beverage and operating supply costs against budget and hotel standards.
• Carry out daily, weekly and monthly cost analysis, identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Verify purchase orders, market lists, goods received notes, supplier invoices and supporting documents.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile inventory with system records.
• Review receiving, storeroom and issuing procedures for compliance with internal controls.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, inventory reports, variance analysis and other management reports.
• Investigate unusual cost fluctuations and assist with month-end closing, journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Support budget preparation, forecasting and cost-saving initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hotel or hospitality industry.
• Previous experience in cost control, especially food and beverage costing and inventory management, is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of purchasing, receiving, stock control, inventory reconciliation and cost analysis.
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, integrity and deadline awareness.
• Good communication and coordination skills across hotel departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Experience with hotel systems such as Futurelog and SunSystems is an advantage.
