Head of Early Years

About the role

Nord Anglia Education is seeking a dynamic Head of Early Years to lead the newly‑opened Etqan Global Academy in Doha. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape the Early Years programme within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework, creating a joyful, safe and inquiry‑driven environment for our youngest learners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the Early Years provision, modelling outstanding practice and setting high standards.
• Implement the IB PYP Early Years framework consistently across the unit.
• Design and sustain a play‑based, child‑initiated learning environment that nurtures curiosity and independence.
• Mentor, coach and develop the Early Years teaching team through learning walks, CPD and performance feedback.
• Build strong, trusting partnerships with parents and families through regular communication and engagement events.
• Oversee assessment, observation and portfolio documentation for Early Years students.
• Monitor, evaluate and continuously improve the quality of Early Years provision.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and child protection policies.
• Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator and senior leadership team to ensure curriculum coherence and school improvement.

Required profile

• Recognised Early Years or primary teaching qualification.
• Significant experience in an Early Years leadership role, preferably in an IB or international school setting.
• Strong knowledge of the IB PYP Early Years framework and play‑based, inquiry‑led pedagogy.
• Deep understanding of child development and child‑initiated learning approaches.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build partnerships with parents and families.
• Proven experience leading, developing and inspiring Early Years teams.
• Commitment to safeguarding, child welfare and inclusive practice.
• International school experience is desirable.
