About the role

The Head of Inspection and Controlled Substances provides strategic direction and oversight for all activities related to the inspection, regulation, and management of controlled substances. This senior position ensures compliance with national and international regulations, safeguarding public health and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans and policies for effective inspection and control of pharmaceuticals and controlled substances.
• Lead a team of inspectors and regulatory professionals to monitor compliance and enforce regulations.
• Collaborate with departmental heads and external stakeholders to align inspection strategies with broader healthcare objectives.
• Oversee the creation and enforcement of regulations governing manufacture, distribution, and dispensing of controlled substances.
• Conduct audits and inspections of pharmaceutical facilities, wholesalers, pharmacies, and healthcare institutions.
• Investigate complaints, violations, and suspected illegal drug activities and take enforcement actions.
• Manage registration, licensing, and monitoring of manufacturers, distributors, and dispensers.
• Implement systems for tracking the supply chain to prevent diversion and illicit trafficking.
• Work with law‑enforcement agencies to combat drug abuse and trafficking.
• Establish quality‑assurance protocols for storage, handling, and dispensing.
• Provide analytics, trend reports, and surveillance to detect non‑conforming products.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management and government officials.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in pharmaceutical regulation, inspection, or controlled‑substance management.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of national and international drug control laws and standards.
• Excellent analytical and reporting abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with law‑enforcement and health‑sector stakeholders.
