Head of Planning – Project Controls Leader

About the role

The Head of Planning will lead project controls with a focus on planning and scheduling for large EPC oil & gas capital projects. You will ensure schedules are developed, analysed and maintained to meet project timelines while managing risks and stakeholder expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide management and technical leadership across all planning and scheduling functions, including risk analysis and reporting.
• Lead the planning team and coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and interface functions.
• Ensure EPC contractors and subcontractors adopt effective planning and scheduling measures aligned with project requirements.
• Prepare and manage gate deliverables related to planning and scheduling within the Project Management System.
• Collect, consolidate, analyse and report progress data to assess overall project status and identify problem areas.
• Conduct schedule delay and impact analyses, review recovery plans and evaluate additional resource needs.
• Incorporate approved project changes into the master schedule and ensure accurate reporting.
• Evaluate contractor performance in planning and scheduling and drive corrective actions.
• Act as the primary interface between senior project management and EPC contractors on all planning matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in project controls for EPC oil & gas capital projects, primarily in planning and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of project controls principles and best practices.
