Instruction Librarian – Academic Library (Doha, Qatar)

About the role

Located at the Qatar campus in Doha, the Instruction Librarian serves as a primary liaison and instructional partner across assigned academic departments, designing and delivering responsive research and information literacy services that align with departmental curricula. The role cultivates specialized library collections, advances scholarly communication, and develops collaborative outreach programs to enrich the academic and cultural life of the GU‑Q community.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research and information literacy sessions, workshops, and course‑integrated teaching for students, faculty, staff, and community researchers.
• Develop and promote innovative services supporting AI literacy, scholarly communication, and academic excellence.
• Serve as liaison librarian for assigned subject areas, collaborating with departments to build and evaluate library collections.
• Provide advanced research consultations and develop instructional materials using Springshare and other platforms.
• Contribute to cultural and community engagement programs, such as speaker series, exhibitions, and thematic events.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA‑accredited program (or international equivalent).
• At least 2 years of professional experience in an academic library, including assessment of instruction and services.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to build collaborative relationships in an international academic environment.
• Project management and organizational skills with capacity to manage multiple priorities.
