Junior Sous Chef

About the role

A Junior Sous Chef position is available in Doha West Bay, Qatar, within the Food and Beverage & Culinary category. The role is full time and non-management, supporting the kitchen team in preparing meals, cooking to recipe standards and helping manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals or substitute items, and prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and the food preparation checklist.
• Regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters, and pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator.
• Ensure proper portion, arrangement and garnish, and monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared.
• Maintain food logs and prepare cold foods.
• Inform the Chef of excess food items for daily specials and inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out-of-stock items.
• Anticipate guest service needs and communicate assistance required during busy periods.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and motivating staff, and act as a role model.
• Follow company, safety and security policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, complete safety training and certifications, and ensure a clean, professional appearance and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Preferred: a technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Preferred: at least 3 years of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Physical ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods, reach overhead and below the knees, and lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
