Lead Underwriting Manager – Property & Casualty

About the role

Qatar Insurance Group is seeking an experienced leader to head its Property, Engineering & Casualty underwriting function. The role oversees day‑to‑day underwriting activities, drives profitable growth, and ensures high‑quality risk selection across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Underwriting Managers, Assistant Managers and officers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, brokers, and reinsurance partners.
• Coordinate with claims, actuarial, finance, legal and compliance teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Negotiate and place facultative and treaty reinsurance with major brokers in London, DIFC and Singapore.
• Underwrite new business within delegated authority, review policy wording and ensure technical accuracy.
• Handle audit queries, monitor documentation flow and support digitisation initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in Property, Engineering & Casualty underwriting within a large general insurer.
• Proven ability to lead and develop underwriting teams.
• Strong network with reinsurance markets and brokers.
• Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
