OPITO Fire & Lifting Instructor – Offshore & Helideck

About the role

We are seeking a qualified OPITO Instructor to deliver and assess fire, lifting and emergency response training for offshore and helideck operations. The role involves planning, delivering and evaluating both theoretical and practical sessions to ensure delegates achieve the required competency.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess training programmes in line with OPITO standards, legislation and client requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, implement controls and lead toolbox talks before practical activities.
• Maintain training equipment, simulators, PPE and resources to ensure safety and suitability.
• Develop and keep up‑to‑date course materials, lesson plans, presentations and assessment documentation.
• Record learner assessments accurately and securely, ensuring confidentiality.
• Participate in standardisation meetings, internal quality assurance and continuous professional development.
• Report hazards, incidents, equipment defects and support corrective actions.
• Collaborate with fellow instructors, technicians and operational staff to ensure efficient training delivery.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of OPITO industry standards for the courses delivered.
• Demonstrable occupational competence and industry experience in firefighting and emergency response, preferably at supervisory or team‑leader level.
• Experience in helideck/helicopter emergency response, banksman & slinger operations and rigging.
• Qualified to deliver the specific OPITO products listed.
• Training and instructional technique expertise with proven teaching experience.
