Principal Installation Analysis Engineer

About the role

The Principal Installation Analysis Engineer interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices, solving complex installation analysis problems independently with minimal guidance. The role may lead functional teams or projects and requires in-depth expertise in installation analysis and broad knowledge of the installation analysis discipline within engineering. It reports to the Manager (Construction Support Eng).

Key responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED and detailed analyses and design according to design basis, project specifications, design codes and standards.
• As Lead Engineer, direct the engineering team, plan and organise discipline execution, scope, deliverables, schedule and manpower, and identify interfaces and deliverables.
• Represent the discipline in meetings with the project team, customer, certifying authorities and auditors, and document substantive communications.
• Prepare estimates for bids and projects, including technical query reviews, execution statements and manhour estimates.
• Approve engineering design basis, philosophies, technical specifications, design reports and procedures, and approve design verification checks.
• Review and approve vendor and subcontractor submittals, requisitions, technical quotations and purchase requisitions, and coordinate with procurement.
• Review fabrication queries, technical quality audit reviews, and lead the discipline team during project audits and design reviews.
• Approve pipeline installation designs (submarine pipelines, risers, spools, PLETS, manifolds, cables) and structural installation designs for offshore structures.
• Monitor costs, KPIs and progress, and mentor junior engineers and supervise senior and assigned engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred).
• 15-20 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant, mainly in construction and installation design.
• Detailed knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods and the theory, content and application of standards, codes and guidelines.
• Knowledge of project coordination and execution skills.
• Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society preferred.
