Production & Broadcast Technical Support Specialist

About the role

The Production & Broadcast Technical Support Specialist provides hands‑on installation, operation, repair and maintenance of complex media systems for Northwestern University in Qatar. Working under limited supervision, the specialist supports faculty, students and staff in classroom and studio environments, ensuring smooth operation of photography, digital cinema, TV broadcast and multimedia productions.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a range of cameras (Canon Cinema, RED, DSLR) and ENG systems.
• Set up, troubleshoot and service studio and field lighting equipment, including Aladdin Bi‑flex, ARRI Skypanels and Aputure COB fixtures.
• Provide in‑classroom training and orientation for faculty, students and guest lecturers on media production facilities.
• Manage equipment check‑in/out processes and the WebCheckout ticketing system.
• Assist in evaluating and recommending new technologies for curriculum integration.
• Collaborate with IT to maintain networked computer systems and media‑production software (Adobe Creative Suite, ENPS, Web Checkout).
• Edit video projects using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects as required.

Required profile

• Technical background in media production equipment and workflows.
• Experience supporting academic or professional production environments.
• Ability to train and mentor users of varying skill levels.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when production schedules demand.
