Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR)

About the role

The Registered Nurse – Operating Room provides peri‑operative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will prepare the OR, assist the surgical team, monitor patient status, and uphold safety and infection‑control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate peri‑operative nursing care.
• Set up the operating room with required instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, and consent prior to incision.
• Anticipate surgeon and anesthesiologist needs and provide instruments during surgery.
• Monitor vital signs, anesthesia response, and overall patient condition intra‑operatively.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection‑control practices throughout procedures.
• Document nursing interventions, surgical counts, and patient information accurately.
• Support post‑anesthesia recovery and provide immediate postoperative care.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.
• Participate in quality‑improvement and staff‑training initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
• Current, valid RN license in the applicable jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience, preferably in an operating‑room or peri‑operative setting.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and peri‑operative standards.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast‑paced surgical environment.
