Repairman – Ladle Maintenance in Steel Plant

About the role

The Repairman is responsible for inspecting, preparing and maintaining ladles used in electric arc furnace (EAF) tapping operations. The role ensures ladles and related equipment are safe, functional and ready for production, following strict SOPs and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, prepare and maintain new, circulating and standby ladles according to SOP requirements.
• Perform ladle refractory inspection, repair and replacement of linings, nozzles, porous plugs and slide plates.
• Remove metal and slag buildup from ladle lips, shells, slide plate bores, nozzles, steel pots and slag pots using oxygen lances and hand tools.
• Monitor ladle internal and shell temperatures and maintain fluid‑control and auto‑purging mechanisms.
• Coordinate with production and maintenance teams and participate in overtime, standby and call‑out duties as required.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma or Higher Secondary Education from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a steel making plant in a similar role.
• Hands‑on knowledge of ladle refractory maintenance, slide plates, nozzles, porous plugs and purging systems.
• Ability to read technical drawings, SOPs and technical documents.
