School Social Worker

About the role

The School Social Worker is a full‑time, on‑site professional based at American Academy School in Doha. The role focuses on delivering social and emotional support to students, helping them thrive academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students.
• Conduct crisis intervention and ongoing case management.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to identify needs and develop intervention plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, attendance, and academic engagement.
• Design and deliver social‑emotional learning initiatives, workshops, and inclusive activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related field.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting, preferably multicultural or international.
• Strong assessment, case‑management and crisis‑intervention abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with students, families and staff.
• Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
