Security Strategy & Risk Consulting Internship

About the role

IBM Consulting is seeking a Security Strategy & Risk Consulting intern to support its Cyber Strategy & Risk team on client engagements. The role offers hands‑on experience in cybersecurity strategy, risk management and governance while working with leading organisations in Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing cybersecurity strategies, roadmaps, operating models and maturity improvement plans.
• Conduct research on emerging threats, regulatory requirements and best practices, and benchmark capabilities against standards such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001 and CIS Controls.
• Support risk assessments, document risk registers, treatment plans and remediation tracking, and prepare risk dashboards and reports.
• Review policies, standards and procedures, and help with compliance assessments against frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS and Qatar NIA.
• Prepare workshop materials, meeting notes, action trackers and client‑ready deliverables, and maintain project documentation and issue logs.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Risk Management or a related field.
• Strong interest in cybersecurity governance, risk, compliance, strategy and consulting.
• Good understanding of basic cybersecurity concepts such as threats, vulnerabilities, controls and data protection.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong English communication skills; Arabic is a plus.
