Senior Project Accountant

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Project Accountant to lead the financial management of large infrastructure and utilities projects. The role involves overseeing contractor payments, cost reporting, and ensuring compliance with contractual and governance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review and certify contractor payment applications and supporting documentation.
• Prepare payment certificates and maintain detailed payment trackers.
• Monitor project budgets, commitments, forecasts and produce cost reports for stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to financial procedures, contract terms and internal controls.
• Support fixed‑asset accounting, project capitalization and investment planning activities.
• Liaise with project teams, finance departments and contractors to resolve payment issues.
• Assist in financial analysis, cost analysis and reporting for project performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in project accounting or infrastructure finance.
• Background in utilities, infrastructure, engineering or construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of project costing, contractor payments and financial controls.
• Excellent analytical and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems for financial management.
