Thermal Spray Operator – Gas Turbine Coatings

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Thermal Spray Operator to join our Qatar Service Center team. The successful candidate will operate and program ABB robotic manipulators to apply thermal spray coatings on gas turbine combustion and hot‑gas path components, ensuring compliance with BH standards and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, program and maintain specialized thermal spray equipment, including ABB robots and IRC5 controllers.
• Prepare laboratory samples, approve new sprays and develop fixtures for new product lines.
• Perform part changeovers, masking, surface preparation and overspray removal using pneumatic grinders.
• Execute vacuum furnace operations, welding, grinding, assembling and shot‑peening as required.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance on all machines and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Update digital work orders, time‑vouchering and operation completion in the shop’s digital system.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environment (HSE) requirements and BH policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma (HS Diploma or GED) with strong shop mathematics.
• Minimum 5 years of experience coating gas turbine components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and coating specifications.
• Self‑starter capable of working with limited supervision and strong problem‑solving skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Operation and programming of ABB robots and IRC5 controllers.
• Experience with Robot Studio and Metco coating consoles.
• Knowledge of CNC equipment programming.
• Familiarity with Kawasaki robot programming (preferred).
• Vacuum furnace operation and overhead crane handling.
• Masking, surface preparation and pneumatic grinding techniques.
