Training and Standards Group Leader

About the role

The Training and Standards Group Leader reports to the Forward Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the training and standards of flight line personnel and weapons load training for weapons personnel. The role leads the training cell, giving the Part 145 manager confidence that personnel are competent and current to carry out maintenance and weapons load tasks, and ensures all Part 145 staff follow mandated training under procedure 7.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with maintenance personnel and managers so they can use all available training routes to show compliance and competency.
• Set and maintain standards across the flight line, including See Offs, See Ins and composite flight servicing, and support weapons load training for re-authorisation and new capabilities.
• Work with the Lead Trainer so training materials match the aircraft configuration and standards.
• Establish training schedules and delivery programmes for flight line and weapons load training as directed by the QEAF.
• Deliver induction training, continuation training, manual handling, working at height and SHE briefings, and IMS training as required.
• Complete training records to prove the competency and currency of maintenance personnel, and arrange training and refresher courses with outside agencies.
• Gather feedback from course attendees, review trends and act on them.
• Ensure compliance with the regulatory framework, EASA continuing airworthiness requirements, ITAR/EaPW and contractual obligations, and support contract reviews.

Required profile

• General Typhoon aircraft knowledge and awareness of how the team fits into the wider organisation.
• Engineering HNC or equivalent experience.
• Leadership foundation level.
• Knowledge of human factors, E&PW and ITAR awareness, and fire training.

Required skills

• Typhoon Trade 'Q' course
• Understanding of the Safety Management System, including human factors, error management and risk management
• Continuing Airworthiness Assurance (CAA) and airworthiness records, including audits and responses to findings
• UK driving licence
