Underwriting Manager – Property & Casualty (General Insurance)

About the role

The client, a leading insurer in Qatar, seeks an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead the Property & Casualty portfolio. You will be responsible for servicing corporate customers, underwriting quality risks, and driving the team’s performance.

Key responsibilities

• Service existing corporate clients for Property, Engineering, Casualty and General Accident insurance products.
• Underwrite good‑quality risks within assigned authority, arrange facultative reinsurance, and review policy wording and contracts for technical accuracy.
• Scrutinise underwriting proposals across all Property and Commercial risk lines.
• Assess risks, issue quotations in line with underwriting guidelines and reinsurance arrangements.
• Negotiate premiums and policy terms with clients and brokers.
• Achieve individual and departmental objectives.
• Lead and mentor a team of Underwriting Officers and Senior Underwriting Officers.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, processes and audit requirements.

Required profile

• Engineering graduate or postgraduate in Science, Finance or Management.
• Professional insurance certifications such as ACII, Diploma in Insurance, FIII or AIII/CII.
• Minimum 8 years of underwriting experience in Property, Engineering, Casualty and General Accident corporate accounts.
• Proven leadership and strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work under pressure.
