Waiter / Waitress

About the role

A hotel is looking for a waiter or waitress to deliver personalized, high-quality food and beverage service to guests. The role covers welcoming guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, handling payments and supporting the team during busy periods.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly, anticipate their needs and handle comments, concerns and inquiries courteously and efficiently.
• Take orders, present menus, serve food and beverages and ensure tables are properly set, cleared and reset.
• Upsell food and beverage items naturally and recommend items based on guest preferences.
• Use the Micros/POS system accurately for order processing and billing, present bills correctly and process payments; perform cashiering duties and follow finance policies for cash and card transactions.
• Maintain par levels of equipment, supplies and guest amenities, and keep the station clean and organized.
• Communicate guest preferences, dietary requirements, allergies and special requests to the team and follow them through.
• Work with the kitchen, bar and other F&B colleagues, support colleagues during busy periods and take part in training and briefings.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and fire safety rules, and comply with the Employee Handbook and hotel policies.

Required profile

• Ideally a diploma or qualification in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Tourism Management or a related field.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury hotel or upscale restaurant.
• Good knowledge of food and beverage products, service standards and restaurant operations.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills, and a professional appearance.
• Positive attitude, able to work in a multicultural team and to work various shifts.
