Barista

About the role

This hotel is looking for a barista to prepare and serve coffee and tea to guests and patrons, while handling orders, cash and the point-of-sale system. The role also covers keeping the coffee area clean, monitoring supplies and working closely with kitchen and server staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, keeping quality and presentation consistent with established recipes and standards.
• Greet guests professionally, take and process orders accurately, give recommendations and handle inquiries and special requests promptly.
• Know the menu, including specialty coffees, teas and other drinks, and inform guests about ingredients and potential allergens.
• Handle cash and process transactions on the hotel's POS system, giving receipts and correct change.
• Keep the coffee preparation area, equipment and service areas clean and organised, and regularly clean and sanitise machines, grinders and utensils.
• Monitor and replenish coffee beans, syrups and other supplies, and report shortages to the relevant personnel.
• Work with kitchen and server staff, follow hotel policies, hygiene and health and safety regulations, and attend training sessions and meetings as required.
• Maintain a good relationship with competitors, business partners and other organisations, and carry out other reasonable duties assigned.

Required profile

• Ideally a degree or diploma in Hospitality or Tourism management.
• At least 2 years of work experience in hotel operations.
• Good customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
