Accounting Manager

About the role

An Accounting Manager is sought in Qatar, responsible for overseeing general accounting, budgeting, reporting and audit matters. The role works closely with legal and commercial teams, supports contract negotiations and provides financial analysis, and reports to the CFO on key decisions. Key responsibilities

• Review and validate accounting transactions, monthly customer invoices, supplier invoices and monthly payroll against policies, delegation of authority and contracts.
• Maintain the chart of accounts and cost centre structure, and ensure payments and staff costs are properly documented and allocated.
• Coordinate with legal and commercial on contractor and service provider compliance, verify interim payment certificates and close-out project accounts, and support complex contract negotiations.
• Develop and implement the accounting department strategy, align it with the organisation's vision and provide advice to leadership.
• Lead the department, set individual objectives, manage performance and develop talent.
• Oversee budget consolidation, monitor financial performance against budget and drive cost improvement.
• Build accounting policies, systems, processes and controls, and lead internal and external audits and the submission of audited financial statements.
• Prepare department reports on time and in line with IFRS/IAS requirements, and ensure quality, health, safety and environmental procedures are followed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; a professional qualification such as CA/CPA is preferred; a Master's degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in a similar role, with at least 5 years in managerial positions.
• Proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control, including GAAP.
• Deep knowledge of contracting and change management.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and communication skills, and attention to detail.
