Adjunct Instructor – Survey of Art I (Art History)

About the role

VCUarts Qatar seeks a dynamic adjunct instructor to teach ARTH 103: Survey of Art I, an introductory survey covering art from the prehistoric era through the 13th century. The position is part‑time and will involve both online and face‑to‑face delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Teach ARTH 103 in line with the approved course description, learning outcomes, and departmental expectations.
• Prepare and deliver lectures, readings, assignments, discussions, and assessments that support student learning.
• Introduce students to visual analysis, art‑historical methods, key monuments, artists, and historical contexts.
• Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.
• Maintain regular communication with students and the department regarding course expectations and progress.
• Record attendance, grades, and student progress using university systems.
• Foster a respectful, professional, and intellectually engaging classroom environment.
• Adhere to departmental and university policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Art History or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level or relevant professional experience in art history, museum studies, curatorial practice, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work respectfully with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
• Eligibility to work in Qatar or meet applicable immigration/employment requirements under Qatari law.
