Airfield Sweeping Technician

About the role

The Airfield Sweeping Technician ensures that runways, taxiways, aprons and other paved surfaces at Al Udeid Air Base remain free of foreign object debris (FOD) and safe for aircraft operations. Working under U.S. military and host‑nation guidelines, the technician operates specialized sweeping equipment and supports continuous airfield activity.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mechanical and vacuum sweepers to clean runways, taxiways, aprons, ramps and shoulders.
• Perform FOD removal and visual inspections before, during and after sweeping operations.
• Coordinate access with Airfield Management and ATC and follow all safety and security procedures.
• Complete inspection checklists, logs and operational reports.
• Conduct basic preventive maintenance on sweeping equipment and report any malfunctions or hazards.
• Support emergency or urgent airfield cleaning tasks as directed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in airfield operations, maintenance or sweeping.
• Knowledge of FOD prevention principles and airfield safety procedures.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; ability to obtain a Qatar residency visa.
• DoD Secret clearance (must be maintained).
• Willingness to work in extreme dust, heat and long‑hour conditions; 100 % travel in a deployed location.
