Assistant Chief Steward

About the role

The Assistant Chief Steward supports the Chief Steward in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation and organization across the food and beverage operations of a luxury hotel. This role ensures compliance with health and safety regulations while delivering the premium service expected by guests.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Steward in managing staffing, training and performance of the stewarding team.
• Oversee daily dishwashing, kitchen cleaning and equipment sanitation to meet health and safety standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies, chemicals and equipment as required.
• Conduct regular inspections of kitchen areas, storage rooms and equipment to ensure cleanliness and organization.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to coordinate service needs during events and meal service.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality management degree preferred.
• Minimum two years experience in stewarding or related roles, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations for food service and kitchen operations.
• Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.
