Assistant School Counselor

About the role

The Assistant School Counselor supports the school counselor in promoting students’ academic, social, emotional, and personal development. Working closely with the Head of Primary, the role helps create a safe, inclusive environment where students feel valued and can succeed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day student support and conduct regular check‑ins.
• Assist with individual and small‑group counseling activities.
• Identify students who may need additional support and refer them appropriately.
• Help implement wellbeing and social‑emotional learning programmes.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leadership to address student needs.

Required profile

• Caring, approachable and student‑centred with excellent listening and communication skills.
• Demonstrates empathy, professionalism, cultural awareness and sound judgment.
• Proactive in promoting positive mental health, resilience and inclusion.
• Holds a bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Psychology or equivalent and at least 2 years of counselling experience.
• Fluent in English and able to meet Qatar visa requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of social‑emotional learning and student wellbeing programmes.
• Experience with student information systems and counselling documentation.
• Outstanding organisational and interpersonal communication abilities.
