Associate Accountant - Qatar Finance Operations

About the role

This Associate Accountant role handles day-to-day Qatar finance operations, including follow-up and transactional activities such as billing, for QFAB (a yard with a 3-million man-hours capacity). It also supports treasury activity for Qatar and liaises with the McDermott Global Finance team and other functions in the Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Month-end closing and reporting
• Generate QFAB billing, track it and provide associated transactional support
• Support accounts payable, cash flow forecasting and resolve identified issues
• Support internal and external audits
• Assist in preparing MIS reports on Qatar operations (finance)
• Carry out other ad-hoc tasks as required

Required profile

• Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA or graduate level, to understand the accounting implications of actions taken
• 3 or more years of work experience, depending on prior role
• Comfortable with information technology; experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems is good
• Process improvement mindset with experience driving process improvements
• Clear communication, working with people in Qatar, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and the JV partner Nakilat/QFAB
• Good presentation skills and ability to multi-task under strict deadlines

Required skills

• Expert-level Excel, including Pivot tables, lookups and conditional formulas
• PowerPoint presentation skills
• Ability to write simple macros is a bonus; Power BI knowledge is a bonus
• Knowledge of Hyperion (HFM, planning) and Smartview is good to have but not mandatory
