Business Finance Manager

About the role

The Business Finance Manager supports the business on all finance-related matters, mainly through financial and strategic planning, monitoring budget variances, forecasting, evaluating opportunities and risks, improving efficiencies and implementing cost control. As a leader, the role helps staff deliver value-added, insightful reporting and analysis for senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and forecast the financial impact of business decisions and strategic initiatives, and partner with business units to make recommendations to senior management
• Monitor monthly expenditure variance and lead investigations into significant variances, taking control action where needed
• Lead the preparation, execution and analysis of budgets and rolling forecasts for business units
• Drive investment allocation by building structured business cases for projects, assessing costs, benefits, scope, dependencies, risks and strategic alignment
• Evaluate opportunities, risks and efficiencies, and report on the KPI performance of the assigned department
• Review internal controls and recommend enhancements; present business cases to the Cost Management Committee
• Enhance costing processes, regularly review general ledger accounts and improve systems and automation

Required profile

• Bachelor degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance; ACCA, ACA, CPA, CMA, CA or another postgraduate qualification preferred
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
• Experience managing a large and diverse team
• Good knowledge of internal finance systems and experience meeting tight reporting deadlines
• Ability to keep records and information strictly confidential

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of costing methodologies and cost reduction techniques
• Knowledge of cost centre accounting, budgeting and forecasting
• Strong analytical skills, data interpretation and excellent communication and presentation skills
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Managerial skills: delegation, mentoring, coaching and teamwork
