Clinical Nurse – Pediatric Emergency Department

About the role

The Clinical Nurse provides safe and effective direct care to neonates, infants, children and young adults in the Pediatric Emergency Department. The role includes assessing patient needs, planning, implementing and evaluating care, educating patients and families, and supervising staff, with accountability to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Provides individualized patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge planning.
• Ensures timely documentation of care and family education in line with Sidra standards.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and escalates clinical issues through the proper chain of command.
• Maintains licensure, regulatory requirements and required certifications.
• Acts as a preceptor/mentor for new staff and students, supporting their competence development.
• Participates in quality‑improvement initiatives and contributes to service efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Nursing (4 years) and registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years recent clinical nursing experience in pediatric emergency/trauma care at a reputable institution.
• Valid professional nursing license from country of origin and meeting Qatar licensing requirements.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Required skills

• IV fluid management and emergency medication preparation/administration.
• Phlebotomy, capillary blood sampling and specimen collection.
• Triage using the Emergency Severity Index system.
• Procedural sedation and airway management.
• Cardiac electrical management (defibrillation, pacing, cardioversion, AED).
• Use of incubator, radiant warmer and infant resuscitation equipment.
