Contracts Lead

About the role

The Contracts Lead will act as the strategic head of category and contracting for the GDI organization, driving commercial value and ensuring compliance across the supply chain. This senior position requires close collaboration with operations, technical, legal, finance and IT teams to shape and execute sourcing strategies before and after contract award.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category and contracting strategies that challenge the status quo and maximise commercial value.
• Lead cross‑functional collaboration to deliver strategy, from pre‑award planning through post‑award performance.
• Manage all sourcing activities, including competitive tenders and sole‑source negotiations, ensuring fairness, transparency and ethical standards.
• Prepare strategy and award recommendation papers for executive review and endorsement.
• Oversee contract drafting, review and approval, ensuring compliance with oil‑and‑gas legal and regulatory requirements.
• Negotiate complex deals with strategic suppliers, creating detailed negotiation plans and escalation pathways.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, driving performance improvements through key metrics such as QHSE, cost and operational efficiency.
• Evaluate claims and disputes, develop counter‑proposals and mitigate value leakage.
• Monitor contract spend versus commitments, identify gaps and drive cost‑control initiatives.
• Promote ethics, compliance and continuous improvement across the procurement function.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic procurement, category management or contract leadership within the oil and gas sector.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior executives and drive consensus.
• Deep understanding of legal and contractual terms, risk mitigation and commercial negotiation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and mentor junior supply‑chain professionals.
