Deckhand

About the role

Alfardan Corporation is looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Deckhand to support the daily operations and maintenance of a vessel in Qatar. The successful candidate will assist with mooring, cargo handling, cleaning and general deck duties while following maritime safety procedures and the instructions of the vessel's officers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with mooring, anchoring, berthing and unberthing operations.
• Handle ropes, lines, fenders and deck equipment safely.
• Support cargo loading, unloading, securing and stowage as required.
• Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the vessel's deck and exterior areas.
• Inspect and care for deck machinery, tools and safety equipment.
• Take part in routine maintenance such as painting, cleaning and minor repairs.
• Follow onboard safety, security and environmental procedures.
• Assist passengers or crew when required and report hazards, equipment issues and incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a deckhand or in a related maritime role is preferred.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors, at heights and in varying weather conditions.
• Able to follow instructions, work as part of a crew and communicate clearly.
• Good English communication skills; Arabic is an advantage.
• Valid seafarer documents and relevant safety training or certificates as required by the vessel and Qatar regulations.
