Director of Finance

About the role

Georgetown University in Qatar is seeking an experienced and strategic financial leader to serve as its Director of Finance. The role partners closely with the COO to execute the university’s financial management strategy across all campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee general accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll approvals, procurement, treasury operations, and student financial services.
• Coordinate fiscal reporting, audit activities, and ensure compliance with the Qatar Foundation agreement.
• Lead budgeting processes, develop 5‑year financial plans, and maintain robust financial forecasting models.
• Provide guidance on financial policies, revenue/expenditure management, and capital budgeting.
• Support major contract negotiations, acquisitions, and joint‑venture opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management or business administration; Master’s preferred.
• CPA certification preferred.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in a large, complex higher‑education institution.
• Proven leadership in interpreting federal and fiscal policies, regulations, and reporting requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, FASB, GASB.
• Experience with process improvement and security best practices.
• Familiarity with accounting and financial information system technology, including web‑based applications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
