Director of Finance

About the role

Georgetown University in Qatar is seeking an experienced and strategic financial leader to serve as its Director of Finance. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the Director will oversee the university’s financial management strategy and multiple finance‑related functions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee general accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll approvals, procurement, treasury operations and student financial services.
• Coordinate fiscal reporting, audit activities and ensure timely month‑end and year‑end accounting.
• Lead annual and multi‑year budgeting processes, including 5‑year financial plans.
• Develop and enforce financial policies, revenue and expenditure management, and capital budgeting.
• Provide guidance to faculty and staff on financial procedures and ensure compliance with Qatar Foundation agreements.
• Support major contract negotiations, acquisitions, joint‑venture opportunities and foreign‑gift reporting.
• Collaborate with university divisions on technology deployment and financial forecasting models.
• Manage finance staff performance, training, recruitment and onboarding.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management or business administration; Master’s preferred.
• CPA certification preferred.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in a large, complex higher‑education institution.
• Proven leadership in interpreting and applying federal and fiscal policies, regulations and reporting requirements.
• Experience improving internal controls and leading diverse teams.
