Director of Finance – Strategic Financial Leader

About the role

Georgetown University in Qatar is seeking an experienced and strategic financial leader to serve as its Director of Finance. The role will work closely with the COO to execute the university’s financial management strategy and support its mission of education, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee general accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll approvals, procurement, treasury operations, and student financial services.
• Coordinate all fiscal reporting, audit activities, and quarterly/yearly budgeting processes.
• Develop and manage financial policies, revenue and expenditure management, and capital budget planning.
• Ensure compliance with Qatar Foundation agreements, federal and fiscal regulations, and internal controls.
• Lead major contract negotiations, acquisitions, and joint‑venture opportunities.
• Provide financial forecasting, reporting for internal and external stakeholders, and maintain asset‑liability models.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management or business administration; Master’s degree preferred.
• CPA certification preferred.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in a large higher‑education institution.
• Demonstrated leadership in interpreting and applying federal and fiscal policies and regulations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, FASB, and GASB standards.
• Experience with process improvement and security best practices.
• Proficiency with accounting and financial information system technology, including web‑based applications.
• Advanced MS Office skills.
