Director of Operations, Electric Ride-Hailing

About the role

GreenSM Qatar is looking for an Operations Director to run its day-to-day business and turn the launch plan into a safe, reliable and cost-efficient electric ride-hailing service in Qatar and future cities. The role reports to the General Manager and covers fleet, charging, drivers, customer service and safety. It is based in Doha with regular travel to other cities.

Key responsibilities

• Design the operating model, processes and SOPs for launch and scale-up, forecast demand and plan fleet, driver and charging capacity by zone and time of day, and prepare operating budgets
• Manage the EV fleet lifecycle, set up depots, workshops and spare-parts supply, and maximise vehicle uptime and utilisation
• Plan, build and operate charging stations and depots, coordinating with utilities, landlords and contractors and optimising charging schedules
• Run driver recruitment, onboarding, training and certification, and manage performance, incentives and welfare
• Monitor trip quality and wait times, lead the customer service centre and enforce safety, security and insurance standards
• Localise dispatch, driver app, telematics and payment flows with product and technology teams, and use operational dashboards to drive decisions
• Ensure compliance with Qatar's transport, labour, tax, environmental and data protection requirements, and manage vendors and partners
• Hire, coach and develop the operations leadership team and frontline staff, and promote a culture of safety, accountability and customer focus

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, Logistics or a related field; Master's or MBA is an advantage
• 8+ years of operations experience, including 4+ years in a senior leadership role managing large, field-based teams
• Background in ride-hailing, mobility, fleet management, logistics, automotive or another high-volume service operation; experience launching or scaling in a new market is strongly preferred
• Fluent English; comfort with a multicultural, cross-border team

Required skills

• Hands-on knowledge of EVs, charging infrastructure and fleet maintenance is a strong advantage
• Good understanding of Qatar's transport sector, labour environment and regulatory framework
• Data-driven, comfortable with KPIs, dashboards and cost analysis
• Proven leadership, vendor management and negotiation skills
