Electrical Engineer – MMUP/UPDA Grade A (Qatar)

About the role

The Electrical Engineer (MMUP/UPDA Grade A) will lead the sizing, specification and procurement of electrical equipment and materials for major projects in Qatar. The role involves close coordination with multidisciplinary teams and ensures compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct sizing studies, prepare technical specifications, requisitions and material take‑offs (MTO) for electrical equipment.
• Evaluate technical bids, support cost estimation for proposals and manage deviations and clarifications.
• Follow up purchase orders to meet delivery milestones and coordinate with Purchasing, Inspection and Projects departments.
• Supervise team activities under the guidance of the Electrical Team Leader and ensure proper use of management tools such as SmartPlant Materials, Documentum, VDDR and IAP.
• Collaborate with design management, identify work‑performance issues and share information to maintain project performance.

Required profile

• Valid MMUP/UPDA First Category Engineer certification/registration.
• 12–15 years of relevant engineering experience, with substantial experience in Qatar/GCC.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Proven experience on major Oil & Gas or Power projects in Qatar, with strong knowledge of Qatar engineering standards and regulations.

Required skills

• SmartPlant Materials (Marian) for material management.
• Document Management System (Documentum).
• VDDR and IAP tools.
• Technical bid evaluation and cost estimation.
• Preparation of MTO and equipment sizing studies.
