Equipment Operator I – Talent Pool Position

About the role

The Equipment Operator I joins Qatar Airways' talent pool to safely operate ground support and aircraft appearance equipment. The role ensures aircraft are serviced on time while complying with company SOPs, airport authority standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a variety of ground support equipment (lower deck loaders, passenger steps, baggage conveyors, etc.) for airline operations.
• Perform safety checks, fuel level monitoring, FOD inspections, and cleaning of equipment before use.
• Report any equipment issues, incidents, or delays to the Loading Team Leader and EO Operations Team Leader.
• Assist with chocking, cone placement, marshalling, and manual handling as needed.
• Move equipment between airside, workshops, wash bays, fueling stations, and QR hangars.
• Support additional department duties as directed by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• High school qualification with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with no prior experience.
• Ability to obtain a valid AVOP and hold a home‑country or Qatar driving licence.
• Possession or ability to obtain a GSE Operating Permit and Qatari Heavy License for technical cleaning equipment.
• Basic knowledge of ramp handling workflow and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).

Required skills

• Operation of ground support equipment (e.g., lower deck loader, passenger steps, baggage conveyor).
• AVOP certification.
• Valid driving licence (home country or Qatar).
• GSE Operating Permit.
• Qatari Heavy License for technical cleaning operations.
• Aircraft pushback and towing certification (preferred).
• Basic proficiency with MS Office applications.
