External Audit Manager

About the role

The External Audit Manager plans, manages and oversees external audit engagements for a portfolio of clients across various industries. The role ensures audits follow applicable auditing standards, regulatory requirements and firm methodology while delivering high-quality client service. It leads engagement teams, manages client relationships, identifies risks and gives technical guidance so audits are completed on time and accurately. The position is a fixed-term contract of 6 months.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple external audit engagements from planning through completion, developing audit strategies, plans and resource requirements
• Ensure compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA), local regulations and firm policies; review workpapers, financial statements and supporting documentation
• Evaluate internal controls, identify audit risks and document findings and recommendations
• Serve as primary contact for audit clients, understand their business and present results to senior management and audit committees
• Mentor and develop audit seniors, associates and juniors, allocate resources, run performance reviews, coaching and training
• Ensure compliance with standards, ethics and independence, escalate complex matters, monitor standard changes and take part in quality assurance reviews
• Support proposal preparation, client presentations, additional services and client retention

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA/ACCA/CA preferred
• 10+ years of external audit experience, preferably Big 4 or a reputable audit firm; 4-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role
• Experience managing multiple engagements and leading teams; Big 4 experience preferred
• Telecom sector and Qatar government experience preferred
• Fluent English; Arabic is an advantage

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, ISA and financial reporting standards
• Risk assessment, internal control evaluation and financial statement analysis
• Audit methodologies, documentation and quality review processes
• Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; familiarity with audit software and ERP systems
