Fabrication Estimation Engineer

About the role

This role is responsible for preparing cost estimates for bidding on multimillion‑dollar oil and gas projects. Reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager, the engineer will work closely with operations, production, and procurement teams to develop accurate bid packages.

Key responsibilities

• Review customer tender packages to understand scope of work, specifications, and schedule, raising clarifications as needed.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, including quantity take‑offs, workforce, rental equipment, and material costs, using standard rates and historical data.
• Coordinate inputs from engineering, yard, QA/QC, procurement and other stakeholders to ensure completeness of the bid.
• Identify any new equipment requirements, obtain costs from procurement, and issue RFQs for outsourced scope.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotes, select competitive offers, and compile overall bid estimates.
• Document all assumptions, communications, and basis of the estimate for future reference and variance analysis.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years experience in offshore construction involving jackets, topsides, bridges, or similar structures.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
