Faculty Position in Evidenced Based Storytelling & Writing

About the role

Northwestern University in Qatar invites applications for a full‑time, open‑rank faculty position in Evidenced Based Storytelling and Writing within the Liberal Arts Program. The appointment will support undergraduate and future graduate education, focusing on Writing Studies in the Global South.

Key responsibilities

• Teach two courses per semester, primarily the First‑Year Writing seminar and related electives.
• Develop and deliver courses that align with interdisciplinary minors such as AI and Media Studies, Media and Politics, Strategic Communication, Film and Design, Middle East Studies, and Africana Studies.
• Conduct research on writing, rhetoric, composition, second‑language writing, or creative writing with a comparative or transnational perspective.
• Contribute to program development, curriculum design, and institutional service.
• Collaborate with the Institute for Advanced Study of the Global South, the Artificial Intelligence and Media Lab, and the Media Majlis Museum.

Required profile

• PhD (or near‑completion) in rhetoric and composition, writing studies, creative writing, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated research agenda focused on the Global South, preferably Africa, the Arab world, or South Asia.
• Experience working with linguistically diverse and globally varied communities.
• Commitment to high‑quality teaching, mentoring, and shared governance.
