Financial Controller – Finance Operations Lead

About the role
We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead our Finance Operations department. The role combines strategic planning, day‑to‑day financial management, and oversight of compliance and reporting functions, ensuring the finance function supports the organization’s objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in defining department strategy, goals and execution plans.
- Determine financial and staffing requirements during annual budgeting and advocate optimal resource allocation.
- Monitor operational performance against objectives and produce periodic reports for senior management.
- Manage daily finance activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, bank and general ledger processing.
- Develop, implement and enforce financial policies, procedures and internal controls to meet regulatory and audit standards.
- Oversee ERP financial modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, PO, INV, CE) and drive system optimisation.
- Coordinate month‑end and year‑end closing, reconciliations, accruals and preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Lead internal and external audit activities, ensuring resolution of audit issues and compliance with IFRS (especially IFRS 9, 15, 16).
- Act as finance lead for ICOFR, collaborate with PMO and FP&A, and monitor key financial performance indicators.
- Own the finance ERP and balance‑sheet processes, ensuring timely reconciliations and presentation to the CFO.
- Manage accounts receivable/collections, lead the credit committee and deliver board‑level KPI reporting on debtor and creditor days.
- Develop and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training and performance feedback.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading finance operations and managing a team of accounting professionals.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly standards 9, 15 and 16.
- Extensive experience with ERP financial systems and module ownership.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate month‑end and year‑end closing and produce statutory financial statements.
- Experience leading audits, internal controls and compliance initiatives.
- Ability to develop and enforce financial policies and procedures.
- Experience in budgeting, resource allocation and KPI monitoring.
