Generator Winder Specialist

About the role

The Generator Winder Specialist performs specialized on‑site generator field service, focusing on complex stator and rotor winding work, troubleshooting, and supporting testing and mechanical assembly during outages. The role also contributes to service capability improvements and prepares for future leadership as a Lead Winder.

Key responsibilities

• Execute complex on‑site generator service activities, including installation, overhauls, repairs, modifications, and rewinding projects while adhering to safety, quality, and technical standards.
• Independently carry out advanced stator and rotor winding, rewinding, rewedging, repair, refurbishment, and insulation tasks, including inspections and quality checks.
• Support generator testing, fault investigation, and mechanical assembly/disassembly during outages, collaborating with testing and field service teams.
• Diagnose and resolve winding‑related issues, applying technical expertise to troubleshoot non‑standard conditions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, documentation, and team development.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in generator winding, including stator and rotor rewinding, rewedging, and repair on large turbo generators.
• Strong technical expertise in generator winding systems, insulation, winding connections, brazing, and repair methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and support cross‑functional, multicultural teams during outages.
• Proactive, collaborative approach to continuous improvement and coaching.
• Vocational, technical college or university qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field, with willingness to travel extensively, work shifts, and support international field service.
