Head Accountant

About the role

The Head Accountant will lead the finance function for Aura Group in Doha, ensuring accurate payroll, timely financial reporting, and strict compliance with IFRS and local regulations. This senior role requires a strategic mindset to drive process improvements and support audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage payroll processing and WPS compliance for timely salary payments.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Maintain the Fixed Assets Register, handling capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Ensure adherence to IFRS, company policies, and local regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit processes.
• Supervise General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen financial controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of accounting experience, including senior‑level responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial controls.
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is an advantage.
• Experience in the GCC region is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced SAP ERP (FI/CO) proficiency.
• Expert‑level Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, dashboards, financial modeling).
• Payroll and WPS processing.
• Month‑end closing and financial reporting.
• Fixed assets accounting.
• General Ledger management.
