Head of Safety, Health, Environment & Security (SHES)

About the role

The Head of SHES will provide strategic leadership and technical advice across Safety, Health, Environment and Security for a major Oil & Gas project in Qatar, covering the full project lifecycle from FEED to start‑up and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and advise on SHES regulatory compliance for onshore and offshore activities.
• Oversee the project SHES team, contractors and subcontractors, ensuring adequate field coverage.
• Monitor SHES performance during pipeline construction, installation, mechanical completion, pre‑commissioning and commissioning.
• Review contractor SHES documentation, provide feedback, and lead audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
• Facilitate risk identification, assessment and ALARP‑based management for critical activities.
• Implement and monitor SHES training programmes for project personnel.
• Drive a strong safety culture through communication, engagement and transparent reporting of incidents and near‑misses.
• Support emergency response arrangements and participate in incident investigations and root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Safety, Health, Environment, Security, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years SHES experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience, including oversight of service/vendor personnel.
• Proven experience on large‑scale offshore and onshore projects through all phases (FEED to start‑up).
• Strong knowledge of SHES management systems, regulatory compliance and contractor management.
