Head of Secondary – IB MYP School

About the role

Nord Anglia Education is recruiting a Head of Secondary for Etqan Global Academy (EGA) in Doha, Qatar. EGA is a newly established IB World School offering the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). The role provides visionary leadership across the secondary school, driving academic excellence, building a high‑performing team and fostering a culture of high aspiration and international‑mindedness.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the secondary school in line with the IB MYP philosophy and EGA’s School Strategic Plan.
• Champion the IB Middle Years Programme, ensuring high‑quality, concept‑driven and inquiry‑based teaching and learning.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing secondary teaching team through coaching, appraisal and CPD.
• Drive whole‑school improvement through effective monitoring, evaluation, data analysis and self‑review processes.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students, parents and the wider school community.
• Collaborate with the Principal, MYP Coordinator and SLT to deliver the School Improvement Plan.
• Ensure excellent student welfare, pastoral care and wellbeing across the secondary school.
• Oversee timetabling, curriculum planning and academic reporting for the secondary school.
• Promote student agency, the IB learner profile and international‑mindedness across all year groups.

Required profile

• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent) and a relevant degree.
• Significant senior leadership experience in an IB school, with strong knowledge of the MYP.
• Proven track record of school improvement and raising student outcomes.
• Experience leading, developing and inspiring high‑performing teaching teams.
• Excellent data literacy and the ability to use assessment information to drive improvement.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
• International school experience, ideally within the Middle East (desirable).
