Head of Secondary

About the role

Nord Anglia Education is seeking a dynamic Head of Secondary to lead Etqan Global Academy’s secondary programme in Doha, Qatar. This senior position will shape the academic direction of the newly established IB Middle Years Programme school, fostering a culture of high aspiration and international‑mindedness.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligned with the IB MYP philosophy and the school’s strategic plan.
• Champion concept‑driven, inquiry‑based teaching and learning across all secondary year groups.
• Mentor, coach and appraise a high‑performing teaching team, driving continuous professional development.
• Oversee whole‑school improvement through data analysis, monitoring, evaluation and self‑review processes.
• Build strong relationships with students, parents and the wider community.
• Collaborate with the Principal, MYP Coordinator and senior leadership team to implement the School Improvement Plan.
• Ensure excellent student welfare, pastoral care and wellbeing.
• Manage timetabling, curriculum planning and academic reporting for the secondary school.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent) and a relevant degree.
• Significant senior leadership experience in an IB school, with proven success in school improvement and raising student outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of the IB Middle Years Programme.
• Excellent data literacy and ability to use assessment information for improvement.
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal and safeguarding skills.
• International school experience, preferably in the Middle East (desirable).
