Head of SHES – Qatar Ras Laffan

About the role

We are seeking a Head of SHES to lead safety, health, environment and security governance for a major brownfield LNG restoration project at Ras Laffan, Qatar. The role will provide strategic direction, ensure regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement across all project phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the project SHES strategy and governance framework.
• Ensure compliance with the LNG company's SHES management system and regulatory requirements.
• Direct contractor SHES performance management and assurance programmes.
• Provide SHES leadership to project management and operations teams.
• Lead strategic risk management and critical risk control verification.
• Approve project SHES plans, procedures and assurance programmes.
• Lead major incident investigations and promote organisational learning.
• Develop SHES capability, succession planning and leadership coaching.
• Drive workforce engagement, worker welfare and a positive safety culture.
• Promote continuous improvement and SHES excellence throughout project execution.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of SHES experience in the oil & gas industry, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or acting role.
• Experience on brownfield projects, preferably in LNG or large‑scale restoration.
• Proven ability to lead SHES governance for projects involving SIMOPS, shutdowns, major construction, and multiple EPC contractors.
• Bachelor’s degree in a science, safety, health, environment, security or engineering discipline.
• Strong knowledge of SHES management systems and regulatory compliance.
