Ice Plant Mechanic – Industrial Refrigeration Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Ice Plant Mechanic to join our Plant Maintenance team in Qatar. The role involves ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient operation of industrial ice plants and chiller refrigeration systems with minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on ice plants, chillers, and related refrigeration equipment.
• Inspect, service, and repair mechanical components such as gearboxes, shafts, cutters, racks, screws, and conveyor mechanisms.
• Overhaul reciprocating and screw compressors, including oil changes, refrigerant charging, filter replacement, and internal inspections.
• Clean and maintain water‑cooled condensers and cooling towers, replacing drip eliminators as needed.
• Detect and repair leaks in refrigeration circuits, joints, valves, piping, and fittings.
• Interpret PLC alarms, operating parameters, and fault codes to diagnose system issues.
• Use electrical testing instruments to inspect motors, starters, contactors, solenoids, and control circuits.
• Replace defective components such as expansion valves, pressure regulators, solenoid valves, motors, bearings, seals, and pumps.
• Safely execute shutdown, startup, commissioning, and restart procedures for ice plant and chiller systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and service reports while complying with LOTO and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma, ITI, or Technical Certificate in Refrigeration & Air‑Conditioning, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial refrigeration or ice plant maintenance.
• Experience with KTI ice plants is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of PLC‑controlled refrigeration equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Strong communication skills in English.
